Volvo Lounge Concept Redefines Rear Legroom in the XC90 Excellence
Conceptual rear console features table, locking storage, 17-inch media screen.
Following the reveal of the sumptuous Volvo XC90 Excellence, Volvo released a new interior concept based on the ultra-luxury SUV. The new Lounge Concept is a radical interior layout that provides the usability and space of a first-class airline seat for the right rear passenger.
In place of a front passenger seat, there is a compact storage unit that can fold out to serve as a table. Inside the work table, there is a large illuminated vanity mirror coupled to a storage tray that can hold jewelry or personal accessories. The table also folds to transform into a 17-inch integrated media screen, where the viewer can control music and video functions. A padded section in the storage unit has space for shoes and a locking compartment.
This new storage area concept adds to the excessive amounts of rear-seat luxury the XC90 Excellence provides. The Excellence model deletes the third row of seats, and creates a four-seat layout, with two reclining executive seats in the back. The seats are heated, cooled, and feature massage functions. A drink refrigerator is slotted in the rear console, with matching crystal flutes from Swedish crystal company Orrefors. Each seat has its own folding table, ambient lighting, retractable touch screen display, and storage compartments.
