Shelby American 2015 Ford Mustang GT Super Snake Pushes out 750 HP

Limited to just 300 units in 2015.

Just when we were getting accustomed to the wild 627-hp 2015 Shelby American Mustang GT, Shelby American unveiled a new muscle-bound Mustang that produces a gut-wrenching 750 hp. The new 2015 Shelby Super Snake starts off life as a 2015 Ford Mustang GT, and adds a bucket of go-fast bits to crank the crazy up to ten. Ordering the Super Snake package nets you modifications to nearly every aspect of the coupe.

To make that headline-worthy horsepower figure, the standard 2015 Ford Mustang GT’s 5.0-liter V-8 is fitted with a Ford Performance supercharger, along with a Ford Racing Borla exhaust. This breathing apparatus pushes the V-8 to over 750 hp, a 315-hp boost over the stock GT’s output. Shelby does not mention any other modifications to the engine aside from the supercharger, but it is almost certain Shelby outfitted the engine with a heavy-duty fuel, ignition, and intake system to bring the power up to such elevated levels. Power is sent to the rear wheels through either a six-speed manual transmission or, for the first time ever in a Super Snake, an automatic transmission.

To make sure the power doesn’t completely shred the rear wheels and burst the axles right off the chassis, they fitted the Super Snake with Ford Performance half-shafts, along with a new 3.73 final drive.

To manage all of the speed that will accompany the prodigious power, the Super Snake is fitted with massive Wilwood six-piston front brakes, hidden behind 20-inch Weld wheels wrapped in sticky Michelin tires. For when the path turns from a drag strip to a canyon road, Shelby also outfitted the Super Snake with a Ford Performance suspension/handling pack.

On the outside, the Super Snake is as aggressive as the performance stats would suggest. The package adds a massive list of carbon fiber goodies, including the hood, front splitter, rocker panels, rear diffuser, rear spoiler, taillight panel, and mirror covers.

On the inside, there is a short-throw shifter for manual transmission models, and a carbon fiber gauge pod. Shelby badging is spread throughout the cabin, with branded floor mats, sill plates, and headrest covers.
Finally, if all of this muscle isn’t enough to satiate your Shelby fix, there is a long list of options they will add for additional cost. Shelby offers a Whipple or Kenne Bell supercharger, uprated diff and transmission cooling kits, Wilwood rear-brake kit, adjustable rear control arms, brake duct kit, camber/caster plates, upholstery upgrade, racing seats, and five-point harness.

This super ‘Stang stickers for $49,995, not including the price of the base Mustang GT. Want to put one in your driveway? Better hurry. The Super Snake is limited to just 300 units for 2015.
