Roadkill Nights Is Back with More Drag Racing, Drift Rides, and Dyno Runs!
Drag racing returns to Woodward Avenue this weekend.
If you dig Roadkill, Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge should be your jam. It's a two-day event that celebrates all the big-displacement, tire-shredding, quarter-mile monsters you know and love. This year's event is this weekend, August 9-10 at the M1 Concourse race track in Pontiac, Michigan.
Last year's single-day affair was so popular that over 44,000 fans came out, so we expanded Roadkill Nights accordingly by adding another day of activities on Friday. Fans can enter the gates at 3:00 pm EST Friday afternoon and they'll have quite a night ahead of them. Friday's activities include dyno testing, a freestyle motocross show, a burnout contest, and free drift rides in the 717-hp Dodge Challenger Hellcat and 707-hp Dodge Charger Hellcat.
Drift rides continue on Saturday, but the main event is drag racing. Historic Woodward Avenue goes from street to drag strip on Saturday, with Big Tire and Small Tire classes competing for a cash purse of $30,000. There will also be a celebrity drag racing competition, in which Roadkill hosts David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan battle it out alongside other enthusiast icons from the world of MotorTrend for a $10,000 charity prize. We'll be streaming the whole affair live on MotorTrend's streaming service on Saturday from 11:00 am to 8:30 pm EST.
MT streaming subscribers (don't have a subscription yet? Click HERE) get access to the MotorTrend Lounge with snacks and refreshments, a complimentary beer per person, giveaways, and exclusive celebrity meet-and-greet opportunities. Out on the track, more than 400 vehicles will be on display for the annual Show 'n Shine car show. Dodge Demon simulators, flamethrower and wheelstander exhibitions, family-friendly Kid's Zone activities, and food and beer truck offerings mean it's unlikely that any gearhead could get bored.
