Report: Audi RS3 Sedan, Q8 Crossover Confirmed for U.S. Sale

But Q1 won't come here.

Both the Audi RS3 and the upcoming Q8 crossover will make it to the U.S., according to a new report from Automotive News. Audi of America CEO Scott Keogh revealed the plans to AN at last week's New York auto show.

Although the Audi RS3 is sold only as a hatchback in its native Europe, Keogh reportedly said that the high-performance variant will come to the U.S. as a sedan. After all, most versions of the A3, and the existing racy 292-hp Audi S3, are sold here in sedan form; in the U.S., only the A3 e-tron plug-in hybrid and TDI will be sold as hatchbacks.

Europe's Audi RS3 Sportback (pictured) packs a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-5 engine good for 362 hp and 343 lb-ft of torque. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic routes power to Quattro all-wheel drive, enabling a 0-to-62-mph sprint of just 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 174 mph.

Keogh also told AN that the Audi Q8 crossover would come to the U.S. "The Q8 looks to be a home run product for the U.S., if you look at its size and where it's going to be positioned," he said. Audi confirmed in March that it would launch a Q8 crossover, which we expect will be a sportier, sleeker version of the new Q7. In addition, expect an e-tron plug-in hybrid model that could share its powertrain components with the new Audi R8 e-tron.

Despite promising those two products, however, Keogh denied plans for Audi to bring the upcoming Q1 small crossover to the U.S. He reportedly said the crossover wouldn't offer the right price of value for U.S. customers. AUTOMOBILE European bureau chief previously reported the Audi Q1 could come to the U.S. by 2018 with a price tag below $30,000.
