Cadillac is determined to reclaim its crown as the world standard of luxury. Helping to do so is its new CUE infotainment system, which is standard on the updated 2013 Cadillac SRX crossover.
When the 2013 Cadillac SRX goes in sale this fall, it will join the all-new 2013 XTS and 2013 ATS sedans as the third Cadillac model to utilize the CUE infotainment system. Standing for Cadillac User Experience, CUE combines a large eight-inch touchscreen with touch-capacitive buttons and haptic feedback to display and use the car’s audio, climate, navigation, and diagnostic information. CUE also utilizes an optional LCD screen in lieu of a traditional gauge cluster that is reconfigurable depending on what information the driver wants to see.
The 2013 Cadillac SRX has also received an upgrade in safety features – there are now a host of systems available to aid in driving and crash avoidance. Some of these systems include a new blind spot monitoring system with cross path detection, forward collision alert, lane departure warning, and Cadillac’s Safety Alert Seat that vibrates to alert the driver.
Not all the upgrades are tech- or hardware-based. Most notably, the 2013 Cadillac SRX receives a new dashboard and steering wheel to incorporate the CUE system, as well as a new shift knob. Outside, there are three new exterior colors (evolution green metallic, glacier blue metallic, and silver coast metallic), new designs for the optional 20-inch wheels, and a revised grille with new brightwork. The 2013 SRX’s revised side vents also now incorporate LED light pipes as an eye-catching detail.
There are no mechanical updates for 2013 to the SRX – all models continue to be powered by a 308-hp, 265-lb-ft direct-injected 3.6-liter V-6 coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission; front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is available as an option. Pricing will be announced closer to its on-sale date this fall.
