Ford Europe revealed the next Fiesta subcompact hatchback on Twitter. The model will fully debut later today, but this lone photo tells us a bit about the next iteration of one of our favorite B-segment hatches.
Though it doesn’t look all that different from the current model in this photo, the 2018 Fiesta is expected to be the first of a new generation. According to Auto Express, the new car will continue to use Ford’s Global B platform, but will become more upscale with a more refined interior. The new Fiesta’s headlights are less swept back than the current model, and the grille is now more hexagonal than trapezoidal – though you could argue it still looks somewhat Aston Martin-like. This is an ST-Line model, which likely means the standard Fiesta will look a bit less sporty.
Powertrains are still unknown, but expect the turbocharged 1.0-liter EcoBoost I-3 to remain in service. You can also expect a full-blown ST performance model to return, hopefully with a power bump from the current model’s 197 hp and 202 lb-ft of torque.
The new Ford Fiesta bows at Ford’s “Go Further” event in Cologne, Germany, later today, so we don’t have to wait too long before we learn all about the Euro-spec Fiesta. Check back for more details.
