265 More Volvo S60, V60 Polestar Models Headed to the U.S. for 2016
White and silver color options join the lineup.
If you didn't manage to snag one of the exclusive Volvo S60 or V60 Polestar models the first time around, you're in luck. As part of its expanded production run for 2016, 265 additional Polestar cars will make their way to the U.S. and offer two new exterior colors when they arrive this summer.
Of the 265 cars headed for our shores, Volvo says 60 percent will be V60 Polestar wagons and 40 percent will be S60 Polestar sedans. Though the 2015 Polestar cars offered only Rebel Blue and Black Sapphire exterior colors, the 2016 models gain Ice White and Bright Silver options. There are no other updates to the cars for 2016, as all Polestar models continue to be powered by a 345-hp, 3.0-liter turbo six-cylinder engine that sends power through a six-speed automatic transmission and a Haldex all-wheel-drive system.
The first round of Volvo Polestar cars in the U.S. included a 120-unit production run, which was snapped up quickly. These 2016 models are part of a 750-unit expansion globally as Volvo extends sales into six additional countries. Volvo has not yet announced new pricing for the 2016 Polestar cars, but don't expect much of a change from last year's cost of $60,225 for the sedan and $61,825 for the wagon.
With the recent announcement of Volvo's purchase of Polestar, expect production to increase further in the future, though perhaps not with these exact models. Production of factory Polestar models is said to increase even more, possibly beyond 1,000 units annually in the near future.
