Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury SUV Concept's Interior Revealed
Insides of Beijing show debut shared by design boss Gorden Wagener
Mercedes has big ambitions for its first Maybach SUV, if this new concept vehicle bound for the Beijing auto show is any indication. Ahead of the reveal, Mercedes design boss Gorden Wagener has posted two new videos of the SUV's interior on his Instagram page.
As we surmised from previous teasers, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury features an abundance of white leather. Now we see a clearer picture of the individual seats with pillows, Maybach logos, and copper-colored backings. Two large panoramic roofs create an open atmosphere throughout the cabin. On the wood door panels, there is ambient lighting formed by an intricate network of lines. The car's center console extends all the way from the front seats to the rear, and in between the two rear seats, you'll find an elegant tea set.
The SUV is expected to sit on the same platform as the new GLS. According to Autocar, Mercedes fully plans to bring the SUV to production, and we should see the final model at the Los Angeles auto show later this year. It's unclear how much of the dramatic design will become reality, but Mercedes plans on bringing the SUV to market in 2019.
We should get a better view of the concept's exterior next week when the Beijing auto show begins.
