Mercedes-AMG C63 Coupe Teased, Debuts in September at Frankfurt

The two-door version of the C63 arrives soon.

The Mercedes-AMG C63 coupe is on the way, and these teaser photos provide our first look at the two-door performance car. Expected to debut at the Frankfurt auto show this September, the Mercedes-AMG C63 coupe will likely go on sale in the U.S. in 2016.

The photos of the car’s nose show the swept-back headlights we have seen on other prototypes of the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class coupe, and the bronze-painted brake calipers and multispoke black wheels of this car closely match the stoppers and rolling stock seen on the Mercedes-AMG C63 sedan. The teaser photos also reveal massively flared front fenders and a front fascia with enlarged lower air intakes, design cues that are also present on other AMG vehicles. Mercedes’ lone caption says, “Something fast has hit the track.”

As the Mercedes-AMG C63 coupe will share its mechanical components with the sedan, expect two versions of a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine underhood. The standard C63 will likely extract 469 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque from that engine, while the racier C63 S will boast 503 hp and 516 lb-ft. Both engines will be mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission.

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class coupe and the higher-performance Mercedes-AMG C63 coupe are both expected to make their public debut at this year’s Frankfurt auto show. Expect more information on both cars over the coming months.
