If you’re anything like us, you are obsessing over every tiny detail of the upcoming Fiat 124 Spider Elaborazione Abarth. The U.S.-market Abarth 124, revealed at the 2016 New York auto show, disappointed with ten less horsepower than the overseas model. Still, a glimmer of hope remained, seeing as the Abarth 124 shares the same 1.4-liter turbo four cylinder engine as the feisty Fiat 500 Abarth. Because of this, it should sing the same glorious bark out of the Abarth 124’s quad-outlet exhausts. Well, grab your best headphones, because a new video was captured of the Abarth 124, and it sounds as good as we could ever have hoped for.
It may not have any extra oomphf, or a gratuitous amount of go-fast hardware, but it does sound like a pint-sized Ferrari every stab of the throttle. In the video, the Abarth 124 is in the process of being loaded onto a storage trailer at a race track. Luckily, the driver was keen enough to show off the fabulous rumble from the quad pipes out back.
The U.S. market Abarth 124 will arrive with a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, pushing out 160 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. Power will be sent to the rear wheels through either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic transmission. The little roadster rides on an upgraded Bilstein suspension, along with upgraded brakes, wheels, and aerodynamic effects compared to the regular 124 Spider.
