Limited-Run Porsche Panamera Special Edition Planned
Porsche plans to reveal a highly exclusive version of its Panamera sedan later this year. A well-informed source tells Automobile that Porsche Exclusive will offer 100 units of a special-edition Panamera, of which 30 are destined for the U.S. market.
No details on the special Porsche Panamera have yet been revealed, but the model likely represents a bid to attract well-heeled shoppers with the allure of extreme exclusivity. A source says the limited run Porsche Panamera will receive a unique metallic paint scheme with multi-colored leather upholstery, and that it will be fully loaded with all of the car's options.
Given the new model is supposed to be the pinnacle of the Panamera model range, it will likely be based on the current top model, the Porsche Panamera Turbo S Executive (pictured). It has a 5.9-inch longer wheelbase than standard Panameras, giving increased rear legroom, and packs a twin-turbo 4.8-liter V-8 engine with 570 hp. That's enough to rocket the big sedan to 60 mph in a claimed 3.6 seconds and on toward a top speed of 192 mph.
As the Porsche Panamera Turbo Executive already stickers for $201,495 with destination, it's not unreasonable to expect a quarter-million-dollar price tag for this rumored special edition, especially given that just 30 of the 100 units are destined for American shores. We're told that Porsche will share more details on the car with valued clients later this month, so expect a public announcement about the car before the end of this year.
