Lamborghini Huracan Joins Taxi Fleet in Wolverhampton, England
Good luck finding one on Uber
Residents of Wolverhampton, England looking for a neon-green, 610-hp wedge to slice through the daily gray monotony now have one, in the form of a fully licensed Lamborghini Huracan taxi. Good luck finding one of those on Uber.
Clearly the local government is not spending taxpayer quid on a supercar whose sticker price starts at $242,445 in the U.S. The car is owned by Special Wedding Cars, a local wedding car rental company that loans out everything from vintage Rolls-Royces to Bentleys, classic E-Types, a Ferrari 458, and a BMW i8. The company also lets people rent oddities like a London bus or a VW camper van.
The Wolverhampton city council tweeted about the acquisition, declaring it the first supercar to be hired as a private taxi in the UK. It's unlikely you'll be able to simply hail the Huracan as it's passing by (although you won't be able to miss it)—our guess is you'll need to make special arrangements for pickup by calling ahead to Special Wedding Cars.
If the experiment proves a success, we'd recommend something slightly more practical for luxury transportation. Say, a Bentley Mulsanne or a Maybach S600, so you can better stretch your legs and maybe even share the experience with a partner in the back seat.
