Hyperloop One Global Challenge Proposes 11 Potential Routes
A new way to travel across the USA?
The proposed routes came from 11 teams of the more than 2,600 participants who competed in the Hyperloop One Global Challenge. The 11 routes would cover more than 2,800 miles and link 35 U.S. cities. The 11 U.S teams will compete with 24 global teams to become part of the 12 finalists. Hyperloop One will then narrow the field down to three winners who will work with the company to explore the technical and financial feasibility of the project.
"Hyperloop One is the only company in the world building an operational commercial Hyperloop system," said Rob Lloyd, chief executive officer of Hyperloop One, in a release. "This disruptive technology - conceived, developed and built in the U.S. - will move passengers and cargo faster, cleaner and more efficiently. It will transform transportation as we know it and create a more connected world."

The Rocky Mountain Hyperloop would go from Denver to Colorado Springs, while the Colorado Hyperloop would go from Denver to Vail. The Texas Triangle would connect Dallas/Fort Worth to Austin to San Antonio to Houston.
Hyperloop One will have a team of about 500 employees by the end of the year, according to Lloyd. Positions include engineers, fabricators, scientists and others. The company claims that the new transportation method will provide several benefits including easing strain on existing infrastructure as well as moving people and goods across the nation.
Tube installation of the company's 1640-foot DevLoop test facility outside of Las Vegas was also finished earlier this month. The DevLoop is used to test levitation, propulsion, vacuum, and control technologies.
