708-HP Hyundai Sonata Tuned by Bisimoto Headed to SEMA
Who needs a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat when you can get more horsepower out of this customized Hyundai Sonata? Tuner Bisimoto, creator of the 1029-hp Honda Odyssey minivan, has partnered with Hyundai for the 2014 SEMA show, and its latest creation is this midsize sedan that makes 1 horsepower more than the most powerful musclecar of all time.
Although it's hard to believe, the Bisimoto Hyundai Sonata's insane 708 hp comes from the same 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that's standard in the mass-market 2015 Hyundai Sonata (pictured). Heavy modifications to more than triple the amount of power include strengthened internal components like forged pistons and connecting rods, a new valve train and camshafts, and a high-boost turbocharger. The Bisimoto Sonata also uses a 6-speed manual transmission, though it's unclear as of yet whether all this power is still routed through the front wheels.
We can only see a rear view of the Bisimoto Hyundai Sonata for now, and the dominant visual change is the enormous rear spoiler sticking off the back. There's also a custom body wrap with large Hyundai graphics, new 18-inch wheels, other aerodynamic improvements, and a blue, white, and black paint scheme that should make for one sporty-looking family sedan. Interior upgrades are said to include racing harnesses and new gauges.
Stay tuned for more information about this insanely powerful Hyundai Sonata when it debuts November 4 at the 2014 SEMA show in Las Vegas.
