Hennessey VelociRaptor 600 6x6 Makes 600+ HP, Cares Not For Good Sense
Wannabe G63 6x6 is nonetheless badass
For those who couldn't snag a Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6 before production ended, or simply didn't have the cash on hand, there's now a six-wheeled alternative from the land of stars, stripes, and dry-rub BBQ. Ahead of the launch of the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor, Texas-based Hennessey Performance has revealed the bawdy and unearthly VelociRaptor 6x6.
The Hennessey VelociRaptor 6x6 starts with a 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor, but the upgrades from there are substantial. Each of the two rear axles gets a locking differential, plus you'll find an upgraded Fox suspension all around. The off-road tires are wrapped around 20-inch wheels, as well. Hennessey added custom front and rear bumpers, a rollbar, and roof-mounted LED lights.
If the estimated 450-hp 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 and 10-speed automatic transmission aren't good enough for the bizarre antics you have in mind, Hennessey is also offering the upgraded VelociRaptor 600 with at least 600 hp. Improved output comes courtesy of upgraded turbos, a modified stainless steel exhaust, upgraded front intercooler and plumbing, and tweaks to the engine computer. Other stand-alone options include Brembo front and rear brakes, even larger wheels and tires, LED lighting signatures, customizable interior trims, and even armoring.
Hennessey calls it "pure aggression on wheels," but those loyal to the Mercedes-Benz G63 6x6 may cry foul. The G63 6x6 has a two-speed transfer case, a locking center differential, a locking differential on each of the three axles, as well as a locking inter-axle differential for the two rear axles. It also boasts a remarkable pedigree of off-road genes and handmade quality, being built at Magna Steyr in Graz, which has built all G-Wagens since 1979.
For context, the G63 6x6 started at roughly $515,000 when it first went on sale back in 2013. This Hennessey VelociRaptor 6x6 starts at $295,000, plus $22,500 if you want the VelociRaptor 600 upgrades. Orders are open now, with deliveries beginning later in the fall when the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor hits showrooms.
