Hennessey Films its Venom GT Terrorizing England
Hennessey has yet to give us some official performance metrics for its insane Venom GT, but the company did kindly provide some footage of its new 725-horsepower, matte black machine ripping up the roads of England.
Hennessey's flick includes a few clips of the car flying down some back roads, but it mostly provides us with a chance to listen to the soundtrack produced by the Venom GT itself. That beautiful noise comes courtesy of General Motors' supercharged 6.2-liter "LS9" V-8 -- the same engine powering the impressive Corvette ZR1.
With the "standard" supercharger, Hennessey is able to tune the engine to 725 horsepower, reportedly allowing the Venom GT to sprint from 0-60 mph in 2.2 seconds, and reach a top end of 262 mph. If that's not hot enough for your tastes, Hennessey can scrap the blower in favor of twin turbochargers, allowing the LS9 to crank out anywhere between 1000-1200 horsepower. We think the 725-figure is plenty of power -- judging by the film, drivers may have trouble keeping ultra-wide rear tires connected to the pavement.
Hennessey plans on publicly unveiling the Venom GT at the 2010 Goodwood Festival of Speed in July. The tuner plans on making only 10 copies annually, and even with a base price of $600,000, four examples are already spoken for.
