Helmet Design Contest Announced by Graham Rahal Foundation to Benefit Charity

IndyCar series fans with an artistic flair will get a chance to have their creation seen by thousands, thanks to the Graham Rahal Foundation's helmet design contest, to benefit Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer, and the SeriousFun Children's Network. Graham Rahal is the son of 1986 Indy 500 winner Bobby Rahal.

At the end of the submission period, the top five designs, as selected by Rahal, will be posted on the Graham Rahal Foundation's Web site. Fans will be able to vote on their favorite design from August 8, 2012 through August 15, 2012. At the conclusion of the voting period, the winning design, as selected by fans, will be painted by Art Rotondo, and will be worn by Rahal at the IZOD IndyCar Series finale race at the Autoclub Speedway in Fontana on September 15, 2012.

Rahal has raced in multiple series since starting in professional racing in 2004. His most successful series and season was with the Atlantic Championship series in 2005, when he won five races. He won his first IndyCar series race in 2008 at the age of 19. He currently races the number 38 car for Chip Ganassi Racing in the IndyCar series.

Those interested in participating can download the template and contest rules at Rahal's foundation website. The contest runs through August 8, 2012.
