Feature Flick: 2011 Aston Martin V8 Vantage S Flaunts its Stuff

We got our first peek at Aston Martin’s new V8 Vantage S earlier this year, but it wasn’t until now that we had a good earful of the car being driven in anger.

The British automaker is no stranger to crafting catchy promotional videos for its cars, including the race-inspired V8 Vantage N420. It’s no surprise, then, that the company produced a similar clip for the new Vantage S, which appears to outperform the N420 by a slight margin.

The Vantage S still uses a naturally aspirated 4.7-liter V-8, but engineers were able to tweak it for another 10 horsepower and 15 pound-feet of torque, bringing output to 430 horsepower and 361 pound-feet of torque, respectively. S models also receive stiffer suspension, larger 15-inch front brake rotors with six-piston front calipers, a quicker steering ratio, sport seats, unique 19-inch wheels, and revised front and rear fascias.

All those revisions render the Vantage S one of the best V-8-powered Astons to take on a road course (shy of the Vantage GT4 racer, of course), so it’s not surprising that Aston’s promo piece shows one lucky driver exercising the car on a closed circuit. The accompanying techno music may rifle some, but the moments when the V-8 is allowed to sing over the soundtrack will likely set gearheads’ hearts a-flutter. Enjoy.
