Designer Donato Coco Leaves Ferrari; Joins Lotus
Group Lotus announced today it was appointing Donato Coco its new head of design, making him the second ex-patriot from Ferrari to join the British sports car manufacturer.
While in Maranello, Coco oversaw the design for the F430, Spider 16M, 599X, California, and the new 458 Italia. Prior to that, he led Citroen's design studio, and was responsible for the likes of the C3 Pluriel and Xsara Picasso.
"Lotus has a reputation for designing evocative sports cars," said Coco, "and it is a great honor to take on these responsibilities and challenges." Lotus CEO Dany Bahar added, "We have a very busy few years ahead of us as we are working on a new strategic business plan which will include the introduction of an all new range of Lotus cars and expansion of our third party design work."
