Bugatti is the latest automaker to craft a virtual racing car for the Gran Turismo video game series. The Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo will be fully revealed at the Frankfurt auto show in September, but for now the automaker has provided a preview of the new car’s design.
The Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo car is said to be less fanciful than some of the other digital creations in the Gran Turismo series — we’re looking at you, 2,590-hp SRT Tomahawk — and to reflect a vehicle that could actually be driven on a real race track.
The lone teaser image appears to show only part of the Bugatti’s body, but its tapered shape and large upright wing suggests it will be patterned on the aggressive design of serious racing cars. The car is said to hint at the design language of future Bugatti models, likely including the 1,500-hp Chiron that replaces the Veyron.
“Naturally it is a high-performance vehicle with a fascinating design,” Kazunori Yamauchi, president of Gran Turismo parent company Polyphony Digital, said in a statement. “The level of attention to detail shown in the technical implementation by Bugatti has really impressed me.”
