Bugatti Chiron Caught Nearly Undisguised on Video

The Veyron's replacement goes for a drive.

We've seen the new car in teasers and spy shots, but now Autobild spotted a Bugatti Chiron out in the wild.

This video depicts two barely-disguised mules making their way through a crowded road. One Chiron has to slow to a crawl to pass a truck laden with logs, allowing the videographer to capture an extended look at the front of the next Bugatti hypercar. The Chiron looks similar to the outgoing Veyron, with a more aggressive face that we saw previewed on the recent Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo concept. (Our renderings of the new car are pictured.)

The Chiron is the upcoming successor to the legendary Bugatti Veyron, and utilizes the same quad-turbo W-16 engine, likely with electric turbochargers and possibly with a hybrid system to keep it in line with the hypercar offerings from Ferrari, McLaren, and Porsche. All those updates should allow the Chiron to put down 300 hp more than the hottest Veyron Super Sport, with an estimated 1,500 hp.

This staggering power will reportedly help rocket the Bugatti Chiron to 60 mph in a tick over two seconds, and on its way to an estimated top speed of 280 mph. Power is routed to all four wheels through a beefy seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, with a trick torque-vectoring system.

Although the basic carbon-fiber architecture is carried over from the Veyron, reports state the Chiron features 90 percent new or revised components.

Take a look at the video below to check out the next-generation of Bugatti hypercar.
