BMW Alpina B7 Teased on Video, Geneva Debut Suspected
The German rocket-boat returns to form.
After early spy shots of a camouflaged prototype surfaced this past summer, it seems that the next BMW Alpina B7 is on the precipice of arrival. Leading up to its suspected debut at the upcoming Geneva auto show, BMW just published this new video teaser of the stately and studly Alpina B7 in action.
With the deep burble of its high-powered engine and pleasant tire screeching, the somewhat disguised BMW Alpina B7 slides merrily through wet and dry surfaces in this latest teaser footage. From what we can make out, the new BMW Alpina B7 should bring to the table a familiar recipe of ultra-luxury and enormous performance.
In the past Alpina has opted to tune V-8 versions of the BMW 7 Series rather than toying with a big-daddy V-12, and we don't expect that to change this time around. When the BMW Alpina B7 is revealed, likely in Geneva, it could bristle with as much as 600 hp from its 4.4-liter, twin-turbo V-8. The standard BMW 750i xDrive heaves itself from 0-60 mph in just 4.3 seconds with merely 445 hp, so it's all but certain the Alpina B7 will knock that number down below 4 seconds.
On top of the performance tweaks, the BMW Alpina B7 is sure to benefit from similar interior enhancements we've seen on past Bavarian beasts. Bespoke leather, wood trim, gauges, color options, and Alpina badging are a sure bet, while other enhancements like an ultra high-end sound system are possible as well. Exterior details like giant wheels and a subtle aero package heighten the performance cred of BMW's usually sober land yacht.
Expect the BMW Alpina B7 to stake its place at somewhere near the $130,000 mark.
