Bentley Bentayga SUV Interior Teased in New Video
Bentayga has selectable drive modes, head-up display
A new teaser video gives a sneak peek at some of the super-luxe features of the upcoming Bentley Bentayga SUV. The Bentayga is Bentley's first SUV, and will potentially be the most luxurious SUV on the market.
As is customary with teaser videos, the glimpses we see are only brief, but they focus on the Bentayga's interior trim and technology. The video focuses on the touch-sensitive rotary drive mode selector located in the center console. Only two of the drive modes are revealed, including an apparent winter and wet-driving mode, which would be ideal in icy and wet conditions when the owner makes the annual skiing trip in the French Alps. The second mode appears to be an off-road mode, which would come in handy for the rocky road up to their vacation home in the Colorado Mountains. A sport mode is just visible for a brief moment on the opposite end of the dial, no doubt useful for navigating the tight roads on the Monaco coastline.
The presence of multiple drive modes indicates Bentley's plan to ape Land Rover and the Porsche Cayenne in terms of off-road ability. Although the Bentayga might spend much of its time on paved roads, Bentley clearly wants its SUV to have some performance capability when the going gets rougher.
In the video, we also see the Bentayga comes with night vision capability, most likely lifted from the mechanically related Audi's 2016 Q7 SUV. The speedometer spins up to 300 km/h, or 186 mph, giving the Bentley bruiser a sporting attitude, along with a head-up display that presents lane departure warnings, navigation directions, and road speed.
Finally, we get a fading overhead shot of the center console, which highlights the traditional chrome Bentley shifter, alongside plenty of buttons and mode selectors. The interior is not as radical as the 2012 Bentley EXP 9 F concept's, but it still captures that powerful Bentley presence.
The Bentley Bentayga SUV makes its official debut later this year. In the meantime, take a look at the teaser video below.
