Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Teased for Geneva Show

Road-legal performance variant should compete with 911 GT3.

Aston Martin is starting the hype early for a new model that will debut at the 2015 Geneva auto show in March. This new performance-oriented variant will be called the Aston Martin Vantage GT3, and should be a hardcore, track-oriented road car in the same vein as the Porsche 911 GT3.

The teaser video shows clips of the racing version of the Vantage, also called the GT3, that competes for Aston's factory racing team. The upcoming, road-legal Vantage GT3 that this teaser suggests will be a slightly toned down version of this racer, but it should still provide a significant performance upgrade over the existing V12 Vantage S that extracts 565 hp from a 5.9-liter V-12. The Vantage GT3 road car is also likely to use this engine, which may make as much as 600 hp in this new performance variant.

A teaser graphic for the Vantage GT3 also hints that the car will receive a comprehensive aerodynamics package similar to that of the race car. An aggressive front air dam with a splitter is likely in the cards, as are plenty of scoops and vents along with a large rear wing to increase downforce. The Aston Martin Vantage GT3 will also have a stiffened suspension and upgraded brakes intended for hard use.

When it debuts in Geneva in a few months, the Vantage GT3 will have some heady competition from the Porsche 911 GT3. This hardcore sports car makes 475 hp from a six-cylinder engine in standard form, and an even more intense 911 GT3 RS with more power and performance is rumored to in the cards for the Geneva show as well.

Stay tuned for more information on the upcoming Aston Martin Vantage GT3 as we learn more information in the lead-up to its official debut in March.
