Cruisin’ the Coast Road Tour and Classic Cars Photo Gallery
America’s largest block party returns with more classic and favorite rides.
Cruisin' the Coast is one of the most unique car events in the country. The activities are happening day and night for a week at different locations along a 30-mile stretch of the beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast. The venues for these activities include towns, resorts, and casinos on this coast. During the course of the week almost 9,000 1989-and-older vehicles register to take part in the fun. It is advertised as America's Largest Block Party, and that is very accurate.
For the third consecutive year, the folks who organize the Cruisin' the Coast event have invited us to come down and spend the week being part of the excitement. We got to the event early and decided we'd make the 90-minute drive to New Orleans to visit the National World War II Museum. This amazing facility is dedicated to the men and women of America's greatest generation, who went to war in 1941 and literally saved the free world. The displays are fantastic and the buildings are huge. One day is not enough time to see everything that is on display there. We all came away with a feeling of pride and appreciation for the sacrifices that were made during that time period, which was a turning point in the history of the world.
At Cruisin' the Coast, our drive to Gulfport included a full-blown police escort with police cars and motorcycles, complete with sirens and flashing lights. Many thanks to the police departments of Biloxi and Gulfport for making our trip incredible.
The City of Gulfport goes all-out to kick off the Cruisin' the Coast week in style. The downtown streets of the city are blocked off and fill with special-interest cars as soon as the sun comes up. There was music, food, and activities all morning. It was the perfect way to kick off the event and our Cruisin the Coast Road Tour week. We are just getting started and our internal-combustion adrenaline is already flowing.
