The 2020 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance is officially canceled. Blame the current coronavirus pandemic for axing the August 16, 2020 event, which was to be the 70th running of the Northern California automotive celebration.

While the 2020 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance is no more, the festivities earmarked for the 70th edition of the event will continue—albeit on August 15, 2021. This includes a display of past Best in Show winners, as well as special classes devoted to Pininfarina's coachwork, the Porsche 917, Talbot-Lago Grand Sport, the Carrera Panamericana, and more.

Likewise, vehicles selected for display at the 2020 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance are still eligible for the 2021 event. As the Concours put it in a written press release, "The acceptance letters stressed that these cars were invited to appear at the 70th celebration—even if it was delayed." The same applies to tickets sold for the 2020 event, which are valid for the 2021 Concours. (That said, those unable to attend the 2021 event can request a refund. )

The Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance is one part of the larger Monterey Car Week, which includes various events, auctions, and car shows. With the cancelation of the Concours, however, it's likely Car Week's other activities will follow suit.
