2018 Rolls-Royce Wraith Luminary Collection Draws Star Power
Limited edition of 55, includes shooting stars
For 2018, the Rolls-Royce Wraith Luminary Collection literally takes aim at the stars with a limited edition of 55 bespoke coupes. The Wraiths are packed with all the usual luxurious niceties including the cabin's starlight headliner, which you can not only order with your favorite constellation—now you can get one with shooting stars.
The Wraith's headliner is made up of 1340 fiber optic lights that are hand-woven to create a glittering night sky—but the coolest new flourish is its shooting stars—eight of them fire at random over the front seats.
"Wraith Luminary is a stunning Collection Car. It speaks directly of our contemporary Rolls-Royce brand—progressive and trailblazing; the pinnacle in hand-crafted luxury," said Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Rolls-Royce CEO, in a statement.
"This is a motor car that celebrates visionaries who achieve eminence in their respective fields. Indeed, this collection is for the world's luminaries."
No doubt about that Müller-Ötvös. Under the Spirit of Ecstacy, resides a twin-turbo 6.6-liter V-12 engine that packs 624 hp and 642 lb-ft of torque. It's mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Aside from the new fireworks, the limited edition receives a new coat of Sunburst Gray paint with a hand-painted Sunburst Motif on the coach line and Saddlery Tan pinstripes on the hood and wheel centers.
In addition to the headliner, there are 176 LEDs on the door panels that surround its four lucky occupants in a sea of light. Front seats are trimmed in Saddlery Tan leather and the rear receives a dose of contrasting Anthracite leather to match the coupe's two-tone steering wheel. Hand-woven stainless steel fabric and Tudor Oak wood trim sourced from Czech Republic forests complete the look of this stunner's beautiful cabin.
Pricing hasn't been announced, but you can bet it doesn't come cheap—unless you are a super star yourself.
