2016 Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar Expand Production
Volvo orders up a new round of Polestars to meet demand.
Volvo fanatics quickly picked up the limited run of 120 Polestar-tuned S60 sedans and V60 wagons that came to the U.S. last year, but you're in luck if you didn't get your hands on one. Polestar will produce 750 more cars worldwide this year as 2016 models to keep up with demand and expand into six more countries in the Middle East.
We don't yet know how many of the new 2016 Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar models will come to the U.S. this time, but we would expect a similar number as the first round of 120 U.S. cars, of which 40 were S60 sedans and 80 were V60 wagons. Volvo will also send some of the new Polestar cars over to the Middle East as it expands sales to six new countries including Bahrain, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. This means the Polestar models will now be sold in a total of 13 countries, as these six new countries join Australia, Canada, England, Israel, Japan, Sweden, Switzerland, and the U.S.
The 2016 Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar won't receive any significant changes over the first production run of high-performance sedans and wagons that featured a turbocharged six-cylinder engine making 345 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. All cars are equipped with all-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic transmission, and feature all sorts of visual upgrades inside and out compared with the standard S60 and V60. Pricing may change slightly for the 2016 cars compared with last year's starting price of $60,225 for the sedan and $61,825 for the wagon.
Stay tuned for more information on the 2016 Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar's renewed production run as the cars go on sale within the next few months.
