The second “Release Series” version of the Scion FR-S is takes the small sports car into a bit of a different direction. With a more luxurious interior and some visual tweaks, the 2016 Scion FR-S Release Series 2.0 is significantly more subdued than the FR-S Release Series 1.0 offered in 2014.
Visually, the new Release Series 2.0 (RS 2.0) is set apart from the rest of the FR-S/BRZ crowd with Lunar Storm silver-white paint. As a contrast, the RS 2.0 wears darkened 17-inch alloy wheels and special aero spoilers on the front bumper and the rear decklid.
The real changes for the RS 2.0 can be found on the inside, where Scion reskinned the seats with black leather and Alcantara and added camel-colored accents. The camel-on-black scheme carries over to the leather-wrapped steering wheel. The shift knob and the handbrake handle are both covered in black leather, while camel trim is applied to the door panels as well. The kneepad and center console are covered in black leather as well. Each RS 2.0 comes with an embroidered number plate, which runs from 1 to 1,000.
The 2016 Scion FR-S Release Series 2.0 is limited to just 1,000 units, so put your orders in fast. Prices for the RS 2.0 equipped with the manual transmission begin at $30,305, including destination, and include standard features like push-button start, HID headlamps, LED running lamps, and automatic climate control. Hop up to the automatic version, and the price jumps to $31,405.
