Following the Black Edition versions of the 2016 Porsche 911 and Boxster, the mid-engine Cayman coupe now gains a similar package that goes on sale in January of next year.
As you’d expect, the 2016 Porsche Cayman Black Edition features an all-black color scheme inside and out, with non-metallic black paint as standard for the exterior and Jet Black metallic available as an option. On the inside, the Porsche crest is embossed into the headrests, and a Black Edition logo adorns the door sills.
The Black Edition is based on the standard Cayman, so it offers a 275-hp, 2.7-liter flat-six engine that pairs with either a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch. For its starting price of $60,195 with destination—$6,600 more than the Cayman’s base price—the Black Edition does include plenty of standard equipment such as bi-xenon headlights, 20-inch Carrera Classic wheels, heated seats, park assist, dual-zone auto climate control, an upgraded sound system, and navigation. That makes the Black Edition a decent value, as adding these options to a standard Cayman would cost quite a bit more.
If this all strikes your fancy, look for the 2016 Porsche Cayman Black Edition to arrive in dealerships at the beginning of next year.
