2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Refreshed with "Dynamic Shield" Face
The Outlander Sport adopts the look of the rest of the Mitsu line.
Not wanting to be the odd one out at the dealership, the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport adopts the "Dynamic Shield" face that appears on the rest of the company's current lineup. The Outlander Sport, Mitsubishi's top-selling model in the U.S., also receives some interior updates.
Like most other models in the lineup, including the larger Outlander crossover and the Lancer sedan, the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander receives a redesigned front fascia with a new black grille treatment that the company calls "Dynamic Shield." Also new are the 18-inch wheels and power-folding mirrors. The color palette expands by three, adding Cool Silver, Diamond White Pearl, and Quartz Brown.
Moving inside, the crossover's interior benefits from new seating materials, a new leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a redesigned climate-control panel. The 6.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system has also been updated.
There are no major changes to the mechanical underpinnings of the 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. Buyers still choose between a 148-hp, 2.0-liter inline-four engine and a 168-hp, 2.4-liter inline-four engine, both of which mate with a continuously variable transmission (a five-speed manual is available on the base front-drive model) and either front- or all-wheel drive.
Pricing for the new model hasn't yet been confirmed; the 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport starts at $20,445 and runs to $25,845.
