2016 Jeep Lineup Adds 75th Anniversary Edition for All Models

Since 1941.

Jeep is fond of slapping its "Since 1941" badge on its SUVs, but things are getting kicked up a notch for the brand's 75th Anniversary this year. All models in the Jeep stable will offer an available 75th Anniversary Edition, brimming to the top with classic Jeep appeal thanks to an array of military-green exterior paint options, satin-bronze wheels and body trim details, as well as distinctive interior packages with the 75th Anniversary embossed logo.

2016 Jeep Wrangler, 2016 Jeep Cherokee, 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2016 Jeep Compass, 2016 Jeep Patriot, and 2016 Jeep Renegade models will all offer a 75th Anniversary Edition. Each comes with an available green paint option (Sarge Green, Recon Green, or Jungle Green) in addition to the usual colors, along with seats with either Gode-Tex or leather inserts, contrasting orange or bronze stitching for the interior, and unique wheels.

"In honor of the brand's 75th anniversary, we have created eye-catching, special-edition models of each vehicle in our lineup that celebrate the unparalleled history of the legendary Jeep brand," said head of global Jeep brand Mike Manley in a statement.

Jeep's history extends back before it was officially established as a brand in 1941. Willys-Overland had by then already built light-duty 4x4 vehicles for the U.S. military, and the Jeep nickname stuck with veterans as they pined for a regular production version after World War II. Since then the Jeep brand has flourished, effectively dominating the off-road adventure vehicle niche with the ubiquitous Wrangler.

Jeep's footprint has expanded massively in recent years, as the brand started to venture into more mainstream segments aside from the more traditional SUV and off-road crowd. The additions of the car-based Cherokee and Renegade, in accordance with the success of the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee, have skyrocketed Jeep to unprecedented sales growth and profitability.

Check out all of 75th Anniversary Jeep models below. The 2016 Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited will cost $35,570 and $39,370, respectively. The starting price for the 2016 Jeep Cherokee 75th Anniversary Edition totals $30,870, while the 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee will cost $37,770. The 75th Anniversary Jeep Renegade, Compass, and Patriot ring in at $26,870, $25,470, and $23,470, respectively.
