2016 Chevrolet Camaro Hood, Trunk Teased
"Leaner, more athletic design" previewed.
The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro won't make its official debut until Saturday, May 16, but two new photos give us an up-close look at the dramatically sculpted shapes of the new car. Ed Welburn, vice president of GM Global Design, said in a statement that, "The Camaro went to the gym and came out with a lithe, more athletic physique for the sixth generation."
These teaser photos show the car's trunk boasts a small rear wing, angular taillight openings, and the broad rear fenders also seen on the current version of the Camaro. The aluminum hood (below) of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, which has prominent creases and angles so that, according to Chevrolet, it "appears to be shrink-wrapped around the engine."
We know almost every key technical detail about the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro so far, thanks to continued teasing and trickles of information from Chevrolet. The SS model is powered by a 6.2-liter LT1 V-8 engine and will offer optional Magnetic Ride Control suspension and a dual-mode sports exhaust. The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is 28 percent stiffer than its predecessor, yet drops more than 200 pounds in curb weight. In addition to the V-8 engine, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is expected to be offered with a 3.6-liter V-6 and a four-cylinder turbocharged engine.
