2016 Acura NSX to Climb Pikes Peak as Pace Car

Hill climb will be made into an exclusive NSX video.

If you've been waiting not at all patiently to see the 2016 Acura NSX in action, clear your schedule for June 28 and head to Colorado. Acura announced today that the 2016 Acura NSX, donning a sharp racing livery, will lead the charge and serve as the pace car for this year's Pikes Peak Hill Climb. And we'll be the first to say how good it is to see the NSX in something other than red or silver.

The twin-turbo V-6-powered 2016 Acura NSX was specially prepped for the 14,110-foot summit, including with a striking graphics package. The white with red accents and black stripes will be unmistakable as the NSX pace car leads the charge up Pikes Peak. "As the pace car, the beast that is NSX will not be fully let of its cage," said Acura chief Mike Accavitti in a statement, "but fans and drivers will still get a first glimpse of the unique character, performance and handling of the NSX in a one-of-a-kind racing environment."

Behind the wheel of the 2016 Acura NSX pace car will be senior Public Relations manager Sage Marie. Marie is himself a seriously accomplished racer with plenty of motorsports experience under his belt. In addition to his 2012 win at the first Pirelli World Challenge B-Spec race, Marie also competing in the Pikes Peak Hill Climb in 2013 and 2014.

If you can't make it to Colorado to see the 2016 Acura NSX in action, don't fret. Acura is planning to install 24 cameras throughout the 12.4-mile course to document the event with a full 360-degree photo series, which will be transformed into a special video as well.
