2015 Volkswagen Beetle Adds Classic Model
The Volkswagen Beetle adds a special Classic trim level with a unique equipment list and upgrades to give the car what Volkswagen calls, "an understated retro look." The Beetle Classic comes only with the Beetle's 170-hp, 1.8-liter turbo-four gasoline engine and six-speed automatic, and starts at $21,015 (with destination) in hatchback form and $26,815 as a convertible.
The 2015 Volkswagen Beetle Classic wears special 17-inch "Heritage" retro wheels, a rear spoiler, and is available in Pure White, Black Uni, or Reflex Silver paint. Leather adorns the shift knob and handbrake, while touchscreen navigation with satellite radio is standard. The seats receive a brown-and-white two-tone treatment consisting of "Sioux" leatherette and checked cloth.
The 2015 Volkswagen Beetle Classic is now the most affordable Beetle, as the hatchback's starting price undercuts the sticker of the existing base model, the $21,290 Beetle 1.8T with (adding the automatic transmission pushes the base Beetle 1.8T's price to $22,390). The 2015 Volkswagen Beetle Classic convertible, however, is a little more costly than the entry Beetle droptop, which starts at $26,165 with the 1.8T engine and six-speed automatic transmission. The 2015 Volkswagen Beetle 1.8T automatic hatchback has EPA ratings of 25/33/28 mpg (city/highway/combined), while the convertible achieves 24/32/27 mpg.
