2015 Subaru Legacy Priced at $22,490
Subaru announced that pricing for the 2015 Subaru Legacy will start at $22,490. It's only a $400 increase over the outgoing Subaru Legacy 2.5i midsizer, but there is now more standard tech equipment, safety features, and improved fuel efficiency.
In addition to generally better materials for the interior, the 2015 Subaru Legacy 2.5i gains an upgraded touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth and Pandora, front seat cushion airbags, and an Active Grille Shutter system for reduced wind resistance as standard equipment. The Legacy's 2.5-liter boxer-four, which gained 2 hp for 175 hp total, now returns fuel economy ratings of 26/36 mpg city/highway. The outgoing Subaru Legacy was rated at 24/32 mpg city/highway. All Legacy models now come equipped with a continuously variable transmission.
Next is the 2015 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Premium, which adds an all-weather package, automatic climate control, a power driver's seat, and a larger infotainment screen. Pricing for the Premium trim starts at $24,290 including delivery, but a moonroof can be added for $1195. For an additional $500, buyers can bundle the sunroof with a navigation package. Adding the EyeSight active safety package with the moonroof and navigation totals $2890.
For larger 18-inch alloy wheels, leather-trimmed upholstery, a premium sound system, heated seats, and rear vehicle detection, the Legacy 2.5i Limited costs $27,290. The range-topping 2015 Subaru Legacy 3.6R, powered a 256-hp 3.6-liter, six-cylinder boxer engine, starts at $30,390.
Although the taller Forester and Outback crossovers are becoming far more popular and profitable for Subaru, the Legacy remains a solid choice for shoppers in the midsize sedan segment. It remains one of the most affordable all-wheel-drive vehicles on the market, an honor shared by the Impreza, Forester, and XV Crosstrek.
The 2015 Subaru Legacy goes on sale this summer.
