Though the refreshed 2015 Porsche Cayenne already launched earlier this year in four different forms, comprising S E-Hybrid, Diesel, Turbo, and S models, Porsche has now added two more variants to the revised lineup: the performance-oriented GTS and the base V-6 model.
The GTS model has been part of the Porsche Cayenne lineup for a while now, and sits in between the S and Turbo models in terms of performance. New for the 2015 model is the twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V-6 that replaces the 4.8-liter V-8 from last year’s GTS. This engine is also in the 2015 Porsche Cayenne S, but in the GTS it’s tuned to make an extra 20 hp and 62 lb-ft of torque for totals of 440 hp and 445 lb-ft. This engine pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission and has standard all-wheel drive, like all Cayennes.
The 2015 Porsche Cayenne GTS also comes standard with a few other performance-enhancing features, like the Porsche Active Suspension Management anti-roll system and an air suspension that makes the GTS sit 0.8 inches lower than a standard Cayenne. There are also black accents for the wheels, badges, and exhaust pipes, along with a rear spoiler and more aggressive front fascia and rear spoiler. As is common with all Porsche GTS models, the interior is clad in a combination of leather and Alcantara and has GTS lettering on the standard sport seats.
Porsche also announced details of the 2015 Cayenne’s base engine, which remains the same naturally aspirated 3.6-liter V-6 with 300 hp. Start-stop is standard, like it is on all 2015 Porsche Cayenne models, to improve fuel economy slightly, though EPA estimates aren’t yet available for the base V-6 Cayenne. Though a six-speed manual transmission was standard for last year’s Cayenne V-6, an eight-speed automatic is included on the base model for 2015.
Both the 2015 Porsche Cayenne GTS and the base Cayenne will debut November 19 at the Los Angeles auto show. The V-6 Cayenne starts at $59,295 and the GTS costs $96,495, both with destination. That price puts the GTS considerably above the Cayenne S ($75,095) but below the Cayenne Turbo ($114,595). Both models go on sale in the U.S. in February 2015, following the debut of the 2015 Cayenne Diesel, S, S E-Hybrid, and Turbo which went on sale November 1.
