2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, Mirage Updated
The 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport crossover gets a new transmission as part of its model year changes, and the 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage subcompact has some slight changes to the interior as well. Mitsubishi has not yet released pricing for these updated models, but expect more information closer to the 2015 models' on-sale date later this year.
The new continuously variable transmission for the 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport has a broader ratio spread than before that's claimed to be equivalent to a seven-speed automatic transmission. Mitsubishi says this makes for better responsiveness from the 148-hp, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, and the Outlander Sport's EPA mileage ratings also go up for both front- and all-wheel-drive models. The new ratings are 25/32/28 mpg (city/highway/combined) with front-wheel drive, and 24/30/27 mpg with all-wheel drive. That's 1 mpg higher than the 2014 Outlander Sport across the board, except for the all-wheel-drive model's city rating which stays the same. The 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is also available with a standard five-speed manual transmission, which has fuel economy ratings unchanged at 24/30/26 mpg (city/highway/combined).
Other changes to the 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport amount to increased sound insulation, retuned electric power steering, and some upgraded trim pieces for the interior. The uplevel SE model also has new LED running lights, high-gloss piano black trim on the audio panel, and relocated switches for the heated front seats.
The 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage receives fewer significant upgrades, as this model debuted just last year as a 2014 model. Most of the upgrades to the Mirage center around interior trim, as all Mirage models now have chrome interior trim accents on the center stack, and ES models have new seat upholstery. The Mirage ES also has new side mirrors with integrated turn signals. The 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage is still available in base DE and upgraded ES models, both of which are powered by a 1.2-liter, 74-hp three-cylinder engine.
