The new 2015 Kia Sedona minivan will achieve as much as 25 mpg on the highway, and it will be priced from $26,795 to $40,595. The minivan debuted earlier this year at the New York auto show with a new body, a fresh design, and a long list of new features compared to the outgoing Sedona.
All versions of the 2015 Kia Sedona use a 3.3-liter V-6 engine rated for 276 hp and a six-speed automatic transmission. The base Sedona L starts at the aforementioned $26,795 sticker price (including an $895 destination charge) and comes standard with equipment like 17-inch steel wheels, a four-speaker sound system, keyless entry, Bluetooth, rear parking sensors, satellite radio, and six airbags. Stepping up to the Sedona LX requires $28,995 and adds 17-inch alloy wheels, tinted privacy glass for the rear windows and liftgate glass, LED running lights, roof rails, a six-speaker sound system, a backup camera, and automatic headlights. The $32,995 Sedona EX builds on that with a digital display in the instrument cluster, a high-power 2.1-amp USB port, leather seats, chrome inside door handles, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, eight-passenger seating thanks to a second-row bench seat, a windshield wiper de-icer, fog lights, and 18-inch wheels.
The next step up for the 2015 Kia Sedona is the SX model, which costs $36,995. Among other things, it builds upon the EX model with LED taillights, a memory seat function, an eight-speaker Infinity sound system, eight-way power driver and passenger seats, cooled front seats, and navigation. Finally, the Sedona SXL costs $40,595 and adds front and rear parking sensors, Nappa leather, a heated wood-trimmed steering wheel, automatic wipers, dual sunroofs, chrome door handles, and 19-inch wheels.
The Sedona’s pricing range is similar to the cost of other minivans. Sticker prices for the 2014 Toyota Sienna range from $27,805 to $47,590, the 2015 Honda Odyssey costs between $29,805 and $45,430, the 2014 Nissan Quest lists for $27,080 to $43,730, the 2014 Chrysler Town & Country costs $31,760 to $42,990, and the 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan lists for $21,890 to $30,990.
Fuel economy ratings for the 2015 Kia Sedona vary depending on trim level. The L, LX, and EX are all rated at 18/24/20 mpg (city/highway/combined). The 2015 Kia Sedona SX adds electric power steering instead of hydraulic, and it is therefore rated at 18/25/21 mpg. The Sedona SXL’s higher equipment level means it weighs more, reducing its economy ratings to 17/22/19 mpg.
The 2015 Kia Sedona goes on sale later this month.
