Ford’s new Edge crossover goes on sale early next year, and we now know full details on the car’s pricing and trim level structure thanks to Ford’s online build-your-own tool for the 2015 Ford Edge. The starting price for the base SE model is $28,995 with destination, exactly the same as the outgoing Edge.
The new 2015 Ford Edge comes standard with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbo four-cylinder engine for its SE, SEL, and Titanium trim levels, while the Ford Edge Sport is offered only with the more powerful 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6. The base SE model comes standard with equipment like a backup camera, Bluetooth, keyless entry, satellite radio, and Ford’s Sync system with a 4.1-inch display screen. Powertrain options for the Edge SE include a 3.5-liter V-6 engine for $425 extra or all-wheel drive which costs $1,995 for both 2.0L and 3.5L models.
Other trim levels with this same powertrain lineup include the Edge SEL ($32,395) and the Edge Titanium ($36,495), which add commensurate levels of equipment like automatic climate control, leather seats, and the MyFord Touch infotainment system with a larger screen. Ford is also offering plenty of option packages like the SEL’s $1,395 Technology Package and the Titanium’s $1,800 Driver’s Package which add active safety features like blind-spot monitoring and forward collision warning. The latter also adds Ford’s new Adaptive Steering system, marking it the first production car with this system.
Adaptive steering is also available on the range-topping 2015 Ford Edge Sport ($38,995), which is powered by the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 which should make upwards of 300 hp (good for 325 hp and 375 lb-ft of torque in the 2015 Ford F-150) and can be had with front- or all-wheel drive. The Edge Sport also comes standard with a front-mounted 180-degree camera and 20-inch wheels, and features options like lane keep assist, cooled front seats, and a panoramic glass roof. Summer tires are a $995 option for this more performance-oriented Edge, and come with even larger 21-inch wheels.
The 2015 Ford Edge goes on sale in early 2015 in the U.S., and will also be sold in Europe for the first time. Click here for the Edge configuration tool, and stay tuned for more information like full engine specifications and EPA fuel economy closer to the car’s on-sale date.
