2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Teased, Debuts At Detroit Auto Show

New Z06 comes to Detroit.

The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 will debut in January at the 2014 Detroit auto show, the automaker announced today. That’s precisely a year after the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray (pictured below) was launched at the 2013 Detroit show.

Chevrolet says the Corvette Z06 will “be the most track-capable Corvette ever,” and promises upgrades to its powertrain, suspension, and brakes. The provided teaser photo clearly shows the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 wears new black multispoke wheels, and also suggests there are larger air vents aft of the wheels.

Although we have no firm information from Chevrolet, previous reports suggest that a new Corvette Z06 might have 7.0-liter V-8 engine making around 600 hp, while an eventual Corvette ZR1 would use a supercharged version of the standard 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray’s 6.2-liter V-8 good for 675-700 hp. Our spy photos showed the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 would have the same black wheels seen in the teaser photo, as well as enlarged brakes and additional cooling vents. The standard 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has a 6.2-liter V-8 that makes 455 and 460 lb-ft of torque as standard, or 460 hp and 465 lb-ft with the optional Z51 performance package.

Expect more details on the new Corvette Z06 to emerge over the next month. After its debut in Detroit, the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 will enter production in late 2014.
