2015 Cadillac CTS-V Spied With Z06 and M5
Cadillac let loose a gaggle of 2015 Cadillac CTS-V prototypes for testing, and our spy photographers were there to document the outing. Joining the four Cadillac CTS-V sedans were a BMW M5 benchmark vehicle and a camouflaged 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06.
As before, the 2015 Cadillac CTS-V is fully obscured under that befuddling wrapping. High-performance front and rear fascias, as well as sportier side skirts, give the CTS-V a much more aggressive presence than the standard model. If the gaping front intakes and thick-slatted vertical grille make it to production, it'll be considerably easier to spot on the road than previous iterations of the CTS-V.
Even if the 2015 Cadillac CTS-V is still well-disguised under black-and-white camo, just as the last time we spotted it in the wild, the company it's keeping is rather telling. Clearly Cadillac is setting its sights high if the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and BMW M5 are viable testing companions, which only fuels existing rumors that the next CTS-V will employ a version of the Z06's LT4 engine—a supercharged, 625-hp, 6.2-liter V-8 powerhouse. Close inspection reveals that the Cadillac CTS-V and the Corvette Z06 have similarly placed hood vents, leading us to speculate that the two indeed share a common powertrain.
The 560-hp BMW M5 is on its own a spicy meatball, but it's also the segment leader in chassis and handling dynamics. If the next CTS-V can combine the raw muscle of the Corvette Z06 with the precision and high-performance handling poise of the M5, BMW and Mercedes-Benz (whose E63 AMG can muster 577 hp) would do well to batten down the hatches and prepare for war.
