2015 Bentley Continental GT Speed Hits 206 MPH

If you were shocked when Bentley announced that last year's Continental GT Speed coupe could hit 202 mph in a straight line, be prepared for another surprise. For the 2015 model year, the GT Speed will be able to hit 206 mph.

The updated 2015 Bentley Continental GT Speed bows at the 2014 Geneva auto show before going on sale this summer. The velocity upgrade comes thanks to revisions to the car's twin-turbo 6.0-liter W-12 engine, which gains 10 hp and 17 lb-ft of torque for totals of 626 hp and 607 lb-ft. Power travels through an eight-speed automatic transmission to Bentley's all-wheel-drive system, and finally to the 21-inch wheels. The Continental GT Speed coupe can hit 60 mph in a claimed 4.0 seconds. The convertible, meanwhile, will achieve "just" 203 mph compared to the coupe's 206-mph terminal velocity.

Visually, the 2015 Bentley Continental GT Speed wears a new painted carbon-fiber front splitter, side skirts, and rear diffuser as standard. The wheels are now dark tinted, as are the head- and taillights. Red-painted brake calipers, chrome "Speed" badges, and a newly optional Candy Red paint color complete the aesthetic transformation.

More Mainstream Modifications

In fact, all versions of the 2015 Bentley Continental received a slew of tweaks for the new model year. In American markets, a backup camera and a hand-stitched luggage case become standard on all Continentals. Although Bentley has always allowed buyers to choose from an extensive options list, there are now seven distinct new trim packages on offer.

Premier Specification adds massaging and cooled seats, the Naim for Bentley upgraded sound system, a valet key, and front arm rests. Interior Style Specification adds contrast stitching and deep-pile floor mats. GT Classic Specification includes chrome front grille inserts, veneered interior trim, and a trunk carpet that matches that of the interior. All-Season Specification brings neck warmers, a heated steering wheel, and a removable wind deflector. Mulliner Driving Specification adds diamond-quilted seats and door panels, a "knurled" shifter, "Jewel" oil and fuel-filler caps, and drilled-aluminum pedals. The GT V8 S Sport Specification includes carbon-ceramic brakes, red brake calipers, a sports exhaust, and carbon-fiber trim panels. Finally, the Classic Mulliner Styling Specification adds the carbon-fiber front splitter, side skirts, and rear diffuser that come standard on the new GT Speed.
