2014 Dodge Dart Blacktop Debuts for 2014 Detroit Auto Show
Ever since the Dodge Dart debuted last year, Dodge has been attempting to spice up its smallest sedan with interesting colors and appearance packages that give the Dart a little more visual appeal. The latest of these options for the 2014 Dodge Dart is new Blacktop appearance package that gives the Dart a slightly more sinister look.
A Blacktop package is also available on other Dodge models like the Charger, Challenger, Avenger, Journey, and Grand Caravan, and the exterior treatment is similar on the Dart. The $295 option, available on 2014 Dodge Dart SXT models equipped with the Rallye Appearance Group, includes 18-inch black wheels, a black grille with matching black grille surround, and darker headlight housings. On the inside, the Dart Blacktop gains upgraded black and red or black and grey cloth upholstery for the seats, along with accents throughout like red stripes on the front seats and red stitching on the instrument panel and center console.
Aside from the visual tweaks, the 2014 Dodge Dart Blacktop is identical to the standard Dart, which received a few changes this year. A new 2.4-liter "Tigershark" engine is now standard on SXT models and can be paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission, replacing the unloved 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and dual-clutch transmission from our Four Seasons 2013 Dodge Dart SXT. (That powertrain combination is henceforth only offered on the fuel-saving Dart Aero.)
The 2014 Dodge Dart Blacktop goes on sale in the first quarter of this year and has a starting price of $19,785 with destination.
