SEMA Star! Mazdaspeed Miata

A factory turbo and a host of performance upgrades give the iconic roadster some newfound joie de vivre.

Mazda showed the Mazdaspeed Miata, its first factory-turbocharged Miata. The turbo (with intercooler) boosts engine output to 178 hp (from 142) and 166 lb-ft of torque (from 125). The engine puts the power through a short-throw 6-speed gearbox and a limited-slip differential.

The Mazdaspeed Miata also includes a 7mm lower suspension with larger front and rear antiroll bars, Bilstein dampers, seventeen-inch wheels, and ABS brakes. Visual enhancements include front and rear spoilers, a larger exhaust tip, and exclusive metallic red or titanium gray paint.

Inside, the Mazdaspeed Miata gets two-tone red-and-black cloth seats or optional black leather with red stitching. Ordering the leather also nets you a cloth-instead of vinyl-convertible top. A 6-disc CD changer also is standard.
