I may be an F30 driver, but the A4 ain't no stinking Jetta!  Don't be a douche and post crap on here like that.  This is a site and mag where many of us know cars, love cars, and own the better cars.  Even if you just aspire and respect the good stuff for now, the point is that we aren't Con Reports readers for instance who drive mini vans and Tahoes and don't know cars.To compare the A4 to a VW just shows that you've never driven either and don't know what you're talking about.  Same maker, yes, but VW owns Porsche also, so does that make a 911 a Passat or something? The A4 is an awesome drive.  Not quite the all around that is BMW's F30, but I put the Audi A4 as #2 in the class, but the race was a close one.

Actually, the A4 uses a completely different platform from the Jetta - the A4 uses a longitudinally mounted engine, while all VW products (except the Toureg) use a tranversely mounted engine.  Yes, VW owns Audi (as well as Porsche, Bentley, Bugatti, Ducati Motorcycles, Lamborghini, Seat, Skoda, MAN and Scania Trucks, but they are all completely separate companies and have their own engineers, manufacturing, Board of Directors and P & L statements.  Perhaps you are confusing Audi with companies such as Lexus, Infiniti or Acura which are marketing fronts for Toyota, Nissan & Honda - and are engineered and built by their parent companies.  Of course there are some things that are shared amongst all the VW Group products - it wouldn't make sense to pay 11 engineers to design 11 different gas caps or 11 different coolant reservoirs, but the important stuff is kept proprietary.  Here is a link that may help: http://wardsauto.com/blog/vw-looks-terribly-inefficient-except-bottom-line If you can't tell the difference between a Jetta and an A4 after driving them both, then you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a Mercedes-Benz and a BMW either.  And I think you may want to check into a new set of eyeglasses.

ya but, why do we still need the floor shift lever?

Looks a Jetta to me, oh that's right it is

Another busy all black (i.e boring) interior.  It may reflect the feeling one gets from the often dreary German weather, but here in the U.S. we get quite a bit of sun in quite a few places.  So, no thanks.

Neither the C class or G Infiniti hold a candle to this baby.

Touche, Christian. I'm sure we'd love to take one out for a spin... --BT

You should try the new C-Class sport plus package that is plenty sporty.

3/4 series.

Small but important point. The engine in the A4 is NOT the same as in the GTI. It's the 'valve-lift' version with (a little) more power and torque.
