I currently own a 2007 S4 manual with the 4.2L V8. While having some routine maintenance done, my gracious dealer put me in a 2012 S4 with the 7 speed DSG. Smart marketing I say. Certainly a nice car. Enough to lure me from my paid for "old V8" S4. Not by a long shot. The torque was instantaneous in the new one. The aural thrills couldn't compare with my V8 at 7,000 RPM. And the performance difference between the two was not near enough to pry me out of my higher HP V8 and a new set of payments. Mind you, I am an Audi fan, my 2007 being my 5th quattro in a row.Audi has repositioned its' S series. I now must purchase an RS series to compete with the M series BMWs and AMG Mercedes. Please keep giving us manuals.Please??? Or I will probably not become a 6 consecutive Audi owner. I hate the thought.

Glad to hear you are enjoying your 2012 S4. With the 2013 model year S4, you will find your criticisms have been addressed:-A new, thicker, flat-bottom steering wheel-A revised climate control panel with "one-step" seat heating controls and simplified fan & distribution functionality-we decided against moving the engine or rejiggering the angle of the cylinders. That is my cross to bear. ;-)The duality of the B8 S4 has allowed us to capture customers cross-shopping the 335i as well as those seeking something a bit more exclusive. I am certain you will agree that the B8 S4 is one of the finest cars we have ever built.barry hoch
