Having been an 18 year highline import auto dealer I bought my wife a new GL 450 for anniversary present and what A mistake. This is the worst vehicle ever and will probably be the divorce card yet as it has never been 1 day without problems that have not been fixed and currently replacing complete air suspension. I use to keep her in Lexus and will be back there soon. Mercedes Corporate is totally the worst also.BAD VEHICLE,BAD MANUFACTURER.

I don't care that the GL350 is the more sensible choice. I can understand if you do a lot of long distance trips you want the range of the diesel. Fine. But the GL550 is NOT a crass, irrelevent SUV in the market. Want a premium 3-row SUV with a V8? Of course you do. For someone stepping up from a Suburban/Expedition/Sequoia/etc, I'm sure the 550's fuel economy wouldn't be much of an issue. As the article says, a 7 passenger S Class. How much better can you do?
