I test drove the Mazda5 when I was there to test drive my Mazda6 last year.  I was waiting them to add aftermarket parts for my new ride.  Then, I asked them to try the Mazda5 while waiting.  Wow, the 5 handled better than I would have ever thought about a taller vehicle.  Turn in was accurate, threw it around a hairspin corner, the tail wouldn't lose, and the grid felt so great and it gave some understeer response, but continued to pull out of the sharp corner with precision which no car with this height can ever touch today in our American market.  The brake was firm and felt very reliable.  I also loved the sunroof and the automatic was fine with me as I tried the manual shiftgate feature and it was pretty fun, I must admit.  May be when I will have my children coming, I will think about it seriously.  Meanwhile, my Mazda6 is doing the job very well in a very sporty and reliable way too.
