dayne 5pts Well good article, but the writer should of said which of the two version of this car in his opinion is more entertaining to drive.
thomasgerrigue 5pts TwoTiresYou also make a good point,it's fun to have a nimble car to take through the twisties. But consider most of the cars you mentioned don't weigh-in at 3000 lbs. Add to that today's advanced suspensions and you can have all three, power, style and agility.
MeDotOrg 5pts While I applaud the effort of Toyota and Subaru to build a traditional sports car that isn't predicated on a bazillion horsepower, this car leaves me a bit cold. The car looks like it was designed by committee, a safe but un-soulful design. The interior, which on a good day could be called purposeful, is oppressively monochromatic. Style and shouldn't be optional extras.
TwoTires 5pts I agree w/ Thomas in that an "All Wheel" drive model would be a welcome addition. But I also disagree that high HP needs to be a vital component for a sports car. There's been a great number of fun sports cars that don't exhibit world shaking power and for many that's not the point of a sports car. After all there plenty of sporty "Muscle" style cars to fill that gap. If the smell of burning rubber and straight line performance is to your liking, a great low mileage Vet can be had for the same price. I've owned plenty of high power cars and bikes, but is something to be said for a well balanced sports car that doesn't take over steering control every time you pass a high test pump. I personally enjoy the skill this type of vehicle demands to really propel it thru the corners and hit the straight in the power zone. That's why they're fun! 356's, Triumphs, MG's, Alfa, Fiat, old TVR's, Sunbeams, AC Bristol, Jensen-Healy, Austin-Healy, and many other great sports were not world beaters in a straight..Just fun!
thomasgerrigue 5pts The Subaru should have been introduced with 4WD, in addition it and all of the other clones are short changed in the engine room. 200hp &151lb.ft just doesn't move 3,000lbs of car driver and gas.As it stands, no chauvinism intended,it took three brands to come up with another "chick car"
Tbone85 5pts There is no "tradition" of Scion rear wheel drive sports cars. It would have made more sense if this was coming as a Toyota branded effort. This is a nice effort, but it makes no sense to refer to "street cred" when it's been ages since Toyota offered a sports car. Subaru certainly has a much shorter distance to go to discuss it's recent history of sporting vehicles AND it's role in developing this one than Toyota does.
chaetophile 5pts The back seats make me laugh out loud. I've never seen back seats that so clearly say "We are only here to bring your insurance payment down. Just ignore us." Very well played. The exterior style is growing on me, but it still seems unfocused. The front end has problems. The 80's nostalgia inside the car is great, but what's up with the awful scale-pattern around the gauges? A little fine tuning could make this a beauty.
